Wikis was first created in 1995 for the Portland Pattern Repository.
Wikis in plain terms is a simple online database. Wikis allows group organization and also allows people to freely create and edit a web page. This newer technology is a lot more organized than email, eliminates the time email takes and there will be less confusion. One subject a person or people might use this for is organizing a group trip. A person could make a list of what they need and the rest of the group members could alter the list by using the edit button found on the screen. If you need help understanding further this is a great website http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-dnL00TdmLY&NR=1.
Wikis could be used in Sport Administration because it would save a lot of time, it would be a good place to build ideas off of your co-workers, and it would be a great organizer.

You're right. Wikis is a great tool for organizing events. I use it all the time for organizing company events.
Wikis definitely save alot of time which is important in the sport industry. It is much easier and less frustrating than emailing back and forth. Wiki sites are all over the internet now, just look at all the information on wikipedia.org, the biggest wiki site of all, and how many people use it for many different things.
